The Special Adviser on General Duties to Bassey Edet Otu, Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, has described the Cross River State governor as the most youth-friendly leader in the country.

Akiba made the assertion in Calabar during an interaction with media professionals, where he highlighted the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and inclusion.

According to him, the Otu-led government has prioritised policies and programmes that promote youth participation in governance and decision-making processes, while also tackling unemployment and encouraging entrepreneurship.

He noted that several initiatives introduced by the administration are already yielding results, with increased access for young people to training opportunities, grants and mentorship schemes across the state.

“The Governor Bassey Otu-led administration has consistently demonstrated a strong resolve to address youth unemployment, promote entrepreneurship, and create opportunities for skills development,” Akiba said.

He further commended the governor’s efforts in appointing young people into key positions, describing it as a reflection of his commitment to youth development.

“Governor Otu has shown uncommon dedication to the welfare of young people. From appointments into key positions to the implementation of empowerment schemes, his administration stands out as one that truly understands the needs of the youth.

He is the most youth-friendly governor in Nigeria,” he added.

Akiba called on other state governors to adopt similar youth-focused policies, stressing that meaningful youth engagement remains critical to national development and social stability.

He also urged youths in Cross River State to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government, while remaining law-abiding and contributing positively to society.
